Why clean water in the DRC?
Our partner organization, Covenant Kids Congo, currently works alongside the Covenant Church of Congo (Communité Evangelique de Ubangi-Mongala) in a rural area in the northern part of the DRC. In this area, only 16% of the population has access to clean drinking water. Contaminated water causes illness and disease, having the greatest negative impact on children. Learn more about that initiative at: https://covchurch.org/serve-globally/covenant-kids-congo/

How does running the 6K help? And why 6K?
6 kilometers is the average distance that many people in developing nations must walk to access clean drinking water for their families. Through Covenant Kids Congo, the funds raised by the registration fees of those who run or walk the 6K contribute towards water projects in areas where clean water is scarcest.

How does the race actually work?
We'll begin and end the 6K at Auburn Elementary. Typically, we have 1 group of those choosing to run and 1 group of those choosing to walk. But you are also welcome to move at your own pace if you choose -- and if you are doing the 6K with kids who need to shorten the route, that's ok too! We provide some snacks and will do stretching as a group before hand. When you finish, you are welcome to hang around to greet others as they finish or take off.
