WHO IS WORLD VISION?

World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. World Vision is the largest non-governmental provider of clean water in the world bringing sustainable clean water to a new person every 10 seconds.

WHY IS IT A 6K INSTEAD OF A 5K?

Six kilometers, or 3.7 miles, is the average distance a person in the developing world has to walk to find water—water that is often not safe to drink or wash their hands with. We want to help you make that fact personal by covering that same distance so that someone else no longer has to.

WHERE IS THIS RACE LOCATED?

Wherever you are! The 6K takes place in person at host sites around the country, and it can be done as a "virtual race" where participants get their race kit in the mail. On May 18, 2024, you can join thousands around the globe from your local host site or from your own front door, in your neighborhood or on a treadmill—get creative! Check out this quick reference guide for more information about hosting a Global 6K in your community.

HOW DO I INVITE PEOPLE TO DO THE 6K?

This is a great opportunity to invite your family and friends from across the world to join you on the same day for the same cause: clean water! You can tag them on social media, give them a call or send them an email with the link to your page to invite them to walk/run with you or donate toward clean water. And celebrate the impact you made by sharing a picture with the hashtag #6KforWater!

WHY DOES THIS RACE COST $50?

Through World Vision water projects, $50 will provide clean water for one person. Your $50 registration fee goes directly to that! That means every 6K for Water participant equals clean water for another person in a developing country. Kids 18 years and under can register for $25.

WHERE WILL MY MONEY GO?

The registration fees and donations from World Vision's Global 6K for Water will help fund water projects, like hand-washing stations or building water points in schools, in communities where World Vision works.

CAN KIDS PARTICIPATE?

Yes! We want families and children to participate in this event. Children of all ages can register as a participant to run or walk the 6K distance. Plus, kids 18 years and younger get to register for $25! You can also find fun family activities to learn more about the importance of clean water here!

WHEN IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER?

You can register all the way up to (and on) race day!

WHAT IF MY SHIRT DOESN'T FIT?

You can change your size yourself by updating your registration online. Here's how to do it: log in to your account at worldvision6k.org, click on dashboard, and click on "Edit Registration Questions". Once updated online, a new shirt will come your way in the mail. If you need help, send us an email at 6KforWater@worldvision.org.

IS IT TIMED?

Keeping your time is up to you! We won't be collecting times but you can share photos from your day on social media using the hashtag #6KforWater.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A SMARTPHONE TO TRACK MY RUN?

You can use a website like Map My Run to plan your route ahead of time. If you have an iPhone, the Apple Health app, can help keep track of your 6K.

HOW DO I SUBMIT OFFLINE DONATIONS?

Begin by clicking on “Donations” in the black bar at the top of your screen (on desktop) or bottom (on mobile) once you’ve logged in to your account, then choosing “Add Offline Donation.” From here there are two steps:
1. Submit the online form. It will take up to 7 business days to reflect on your webpage.
2. Download the offline donation form and mail it with the checks; more directions are on the form. This will go to our finance department, who will make sure the donations go toward our clean water projects.
